Does anyone know what to do when Audacity does not recognize a project that has been saved on a Flash Drive? The error message says "can't open file, no such file or directory."
Is it asking for trouble to try to work with this file anyway?
When working with Audacity (or SoundSlides), never work from a flash drive. Always move the files to the hard disk. You have far less risk of failure.
This message seems to indicate that in copying to the flash drive, you didn't bring all the Audacity support files. When you create an Audacity project, it will create three things on your desktop (or docs folder or wherever else you save it) that look like this. Assume I create a project and name it "test," I'd have this set on my desktop:
- test_data (folder of data files containing the sound)
- test.aup (the main Audacity editing file)
- test.aup.bak (a backup file in case of corruption)
You have to have ALL these to be able to reopen the project.
