- open the file in GarageBand
- from menus at top, choose share/export song to disk
- choose AAC encoder and high quality
- click export and name file and save to desktop or folder (don't save to external disk, such as flash drive)
- once exported (it will take a while), drag new file (it will have extension .m4a) over the SoundStudio icon in dock (launch SS first from the applications folder if it's not in your dock by default)
- it will take a while to open but it will
- file/save as to make it a .aiff file
(fyi, you can do this same thing to take a file from GB to Audacity BUT you need to export from GB as an mp3 file and in Audacity create a new file and choose project/import audio, rather than dragging the mp3 file over the Audacity icon)
J202 students who wish to be added as authors should e-mail me. Others not registered for the class are welcome to use the entries in this knowledge base but may not submit questions here or via e-mail. Thanks!

Correct. SoundStudio is easier, but $$. Audacity is buggy but free.
