sidebar help!!

Page history last edited by morgano@wisc.edu 15 years, 7 months ago

In training we used a picture created in photoshop to help full in the leftnav background color. I have no idea how to create this web-friendly photoshop image in the same color I desire, so I was curious if anyone knew another way to fill in the background color...I know if the training Katy said there were multiple ways. Thanks!!

Simple to create in Photoshop:
- new file with the same width as your sidebar and about 5 pixels high
- click foreground color tool from tool palette at left
- set color to the same value of the color you want, e.g. #xxxxxx
- select all
- edit/fill/fill with foreground color
- file/save for web and devices and format as a gif
Then follow the same directions to set it as a vertically repeating background image
OR ... you can color the background of the div
OR ... you can set a color border on another div that surrounds it

I have a bit different sidebar issue. Mine refuses to go in the blank column to the left of all my text, it just sits at the bottom of my page. I have another page that has a sidebar item set up with the exact same specs and that one works just fine. Is there an easy way to move sidebars around?

Look in your code. Is the set of codes for the sidebar within the code for whatever you called that div on the left? If not, cut and paste it in there.
Otherwise, just do a "save as" of the page that is working and paste in the content of the page that isn't working.
