Linking pages in my menu bar

Page history last edited by Anna Nadon 14 years ago

I created my menu bar and thought I linked my sub in the menu bar (#docs/pagename.html) and when I check it in a preview, it doesn't link between any of my pages.  What am I doing wrong?

can you clear something up for me? You're trying to create a submenu bar within the spry menu bar? If so, that should already have come built in to the spry menu bar you inserted. Or, are you trying to create links now that you've made the spry menu bar relevant (for example, the about navigation linking to the about page?) If you highlight the text you want to link and go down in the html properties palette you should see the place where we showed you how to make links. You have to delete the #, then put your pagename.html. The link could be not working because you've put a typo in the file (i.e. pageanme.html) or because your other pages are not stored in the same folder as the page you're trying to link from. To check if the link function is working, try to link to http://www.cnn.com and see if that works. If it does work to link outside your site, but not within, that means you've either made a typo or you have pages out of place in your site organization. Remember you can also look at your site organization in the finder window of a mac, outside of dreamweaver to double check that all of your pages are in the same place.

I was trying to link my pages in my menu bar. When I set it up, my menu bar tabs wouldn't jump to any of the other pages on my site. Taking out the #docs/ fixed the problem for me.
